Videogame vid confused with secret IRA footage!

ArmA II-Graphics good enough to fool TV
The media likes to warn us that kids cannot tell the difference between real life and the video games they play. But so it seems, neither can they.

UK television channel ITV recently broadcast a serious documentary called "Exposure" that sets out to explain to us Colonel Gadaffi's arms links to the Irish Republican Army (IRA).

The documentary shows some rare video footage of the IRA using Libyan weapons to bring down a helicopter.
The footage was shown as "IRA film 1988".

Now you may have heard the term 'the Real IRA' but this was definitely not any sort of IRA, and it was especially not 'real'.

Whether by mistake (god knows how) or otherwise the footage used was gaming footage from the video game ArmA II.

The eagle-eyed chaps over at PC Gamer have been credited with spotting this and investigating it a little further. Surely this will lead to a boost in the sales for an army game not as well known as the Call of Duty or Battlefield Bad Company brands.

Incidentally there is now a free-to-play version of ArmA 2 available to download for online play at the official site Arma2.com

Male breast feeding - bonding or weird?

Male breast feeding with milk filled artificial breasts
This image apparently demonstrates 'male breast feeding'.

I've heard the idea for this 'invention' is so that the father can bond more intimately with the baby, just as the mother does through natural breast feeding.

Is it bonding or just plain weird?

The Pirate Bay in deep water after 2006 raid

Although today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, I decided to go with my own alternative: International Talk About The Pirate Bay.

The Pirate Bay, for those of you new to the internet is what is commonly referred to as a Torrent Site. It holds lists of links to various files around the internet, including movies, music and games, amongst other things. Although it maintains that it does not host any of the said content but just lists links to it. No different to the list of results you may get via Google if you searched the word torrent.

This defence hasn't stopped them getting into a lot of trouble (or deep water if you will, hehe).

Watch this video taken from The Pirate Bay's own CCTV of a police raid of their premises back in 2006.

The video itself is pretty dull viewing of course. Just some police wandering around server rooms.
But the interesting thing on the footage is why do the police go round to each cam and cover it with what looks like a black bin liner? Surely they could use the footage captured during the raid for their own case.

Pop Band Create New Member From Scraps!

Japanese Pop star Aimi Eguchi from band AKB48 is unreal - literally!
Japanese pop group AKB48 have fooled fans into believing a new member had joined the group. But you could maybe describe new member Aimi Eguchi as a patchwork quilt of a popstar.

Now we've all heard of pop groups being manufactured but this is ridiculous!

Aimi Eguchi, latest member of Japanese pop group AKB48 only exists in the digital world. She is made up of a composite of 'the best bits' of the other six main members of the band.
A sort of fetching, female Frankenstein's monster I suppose.
Hey wait... is this what the SugarBabes, and En Vogue before them, already did?

Watch this vid for a bit of an explanation. Although not in English, you'll get the idea:

London 2012 Olympics should be a riot!

London 2012 Olympics promises to be a real riot

The London 2012 Olympic torch is a rioters favourite.

If you get the chance to be the torch bearer, you have the perfect excuse to run down the street with a solid metal, baseball bat shaped object for smashing stuff along the way.

But if that wasn't handy enough for your friendly local rioter, it comes complete with a constantly lit flame on top for all your spur-of-the-moment arson urges.

Now I know the police have released a lot of images of rioters/looters in the hope that the public will be able to identify the culprits and report them.

Well, I don't know if it's just me, but I'm pretty sure the guy in the grey hoody is none other than the Fresh Prince of Bel Air's cousin, Mr Carlton Banks.
